Games and development tools I've recently created.
Legends of Sherwood is an online adventure you can play with friends over web, phone and command line. The game features dozens of areas to explore, quests to complete, monsters to defeat, skills to level and items to unlock.
LQS has been used by private servers to create over 150 custom quests and content systems. My simulated cutscenes use special packets to dynamically spawn and manipulate NPCs and effects. Quests are loaded live using an easy template, providing countless utilities for dialog, battles, chests, trackers, trades, rewards, shops and more.
Wyrt is an MMO Server that runs and manages live service content through dynamically reloaded data files. It provides all the infrastructure necessary to build the backend for simple online games and run them efficiently.
A selection of content I've created for FFXI Private Servers.
Ventures reward players for forming a party and engaging against more challenging monsters by providing additional rewards after defeating the required mobs. Ventures change every day to keep the leveling experience fresh. Rewards include points for exclusive items and spawners for additional battles ranging from lower level to endgame.
Based on the game's gathering systems, Harvesting, Excavation, Logging and Mining, I created a fully functional replica system with dynamic entities, for additional new zones. I've currently created 15 new gathering areas which supplement the existing available resources and created lore behind each one, including quests to unlock them.
Dragonslaying provides additional endgame content for players who have maxed out all their classes but want to continue gaining experience. Additional experience can be banked then spent on lures that bring powerful dragons out of hiding. Each 18-player battle has a plethora of new upgradable equipment to collect and all participates receive Dragon Killer Points to build towards their own rewards and upgrades.
The Ephemeral Box allows players to rapidly store and retrieve vast quantities of items and perform conversions of certain items. Any combination of items can be traded or stored with a command and pulled directly from the inventory. Items can be retrieved again in desired quantities at any town area. Additionally, the box transfers certain items automatically to other storage systems.
Aether Caskets build additional rewards into the base game by dynamically spawning chests after certain encounters. Caskets must be opened with crafted keys which consume and increase the value of otherwise less valuable resources such as Treasure Chest Keys. This system allows all battle participants to receive minor rewards, even if they don't win regular loot.
Yagudo Arena is a daily repeatable bout against various teams of Yagudo in a level capped soft instance. The ring of Yagudo forming the arena is spawned dynamically with packets and only appears to those participating. An announcer greets the participants and introduces the team. Players are awarded with mid level armor and the ability to upgrade each piece with Arena Points.
A 90-minute skirmish into enemy strongholds creates dynamic dungeon instances out of 6 open world areas, featuring bosses with unique loot, progressive level caps, random bonus objectives, custom mounts, and a selection of temporary buffs. Players earn currency to forge ultimate weapons and collect a variety powerful low level equipment.
Novice Trials provide accessible beginner content where players complete a number of tasks such as defeating monsters, trading items or overcoming bosses to augment existing low level equipment. This allows players to invest in their characters early and feel accomplished, as equipment can be reused when leveling future classes.
Domain Invasion is a series of large scale battles against unique bosses that cycle continously. Participation is completely open and players can enter the battle solo to fight alongside others. Battles often reach as high as 100+ players. After defeating all bosses, players are awarded with Domain Coffers containing a variety of rewards and their power level is increased for subsequent Domain Invasion battles.
Aether Traveler visits every Friday/Saturday, providing players with an opportunity to purchase items using Aether Shards gained throughout endgame content. The items available change each week and the Aether Traveler also offers 5 shards in exchange for randomly selected rare materials, draining the market supply and retaining item value.
Crystal Warrior is self-found gamemode with optional hardcore mechanics. The mode contains a vast amount of additional content, features and rewards, including announcements for world first achievements and leaderboards. Crystal Warriors play in the same world as regular characters but can only party with other Crystal Warriors.
Players accumulate Guild Points by trading requested items each day. Guild NMs allow players to expend these points to battle high level monsters for exclusive rare materials. Continuous demand for points stimulates market activity for all tiers of the game.
Once enough Ventures have been completed in each area, a server wide announcement will declare that a Venture Boss battle has begun. Venture Bosses are open participation and can accommodate any number of players. Players will be level capped appropriately for the current area and receive a chest with personal rewards upon victory, containing armor component pieces and upgrade materials.
Goblin Brews provide exciting battles with exclusive loot from low levels up to the highest tiers of endgame. Each Brew can be combined to form the next tier and drops from the respective previous tier. Additionally, each new item can be upgraded multiple times and participants are awarded points to spend in a shop.
Each week, the clamming contest awards a prize of 1 million to the first player who finds the elusive Emperor Clam. Items have a particular weight and players must be careful not to overfill their bucket or it will break! The contest rotates between three different areas, each with its own item pool. Participants are also awarded points to purchase cosmetic items.
Special Ventures cycle each day, providing a motivation to gather materials or fish in different areas. Each item has an assigned value and once enough points are tallied, the player receives a box to open and some points which can unlock additional rewards such as new armor sets for gathering and fishing. Additionally, gathering boxes can contain a Special Brew, unlocking exclusive 10 minute events for gathering in special areas.
Each day, Crystal Warriors can engage in a battle against three Goblins in exchange for beastcoins. The Goblins have different weaknesses and players must coordinate different damage types. After battle, three chests offer three reward types, which shuffle daily. Players communicate to figure out which chest contains the type they desire.
Tonberry Trouble is a daily battle where randomly selected elements are cycled, indicated by the mob's Ninjutsu spell. Players must counter this with the opposing element by using a weaponskill. Players must bring different classes to ensure a balanced composition. This mechanic repeats until the mob is fully weakened and can be defeated easily. Additional monsters are spawned, which must be dispelled with magic of their opposing element. Players are awarded unique equipment and points to unlock various expansions on the Ephemeral Box.
